When is the best time to sow pansy seeds?

Pansy seed sowing time

If pansies are sown in autumn, they will bloom in spring. If they are sown in summer, they will bloom in late autumn. They are usually sown in August and September. At this time, the plants are growing more actively and the temperature is suitable for seed germination and growth, which can increase the survival rate of seed planting.

Pansy Seed Planting Method and Steps

1. Preparation

Pansy likes a warm environment, and the suitable germination temperature is between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius. It likes loose and fertile soil, which can be made into nutrient soil by mixing leaf mold, sandy soil, and peat soil. Bone meal can be added to the bottom of the soil, or a layer of coarse sand and gravel can be spread, and then a small amount of decomposed and fermented basic fertilizer or a thin cake fertilizer water can be applied.

2. Seed sowing

When planting pansy seeds, choose plump and healthy seeds. After rinsing them with clean water and drying them, you can soak them in a rooting agent solution for half an hour and then sow them in the soil. Make sure the spacing between the seeds is 5 to 10 cm. Water them once and cover the soil surface with a layer of plastic film.

3. Post-management

Wait until the pansy seeds have grown for 3 to 5 days, then water them again. When the seeds germinate and break through the soil, you need to remove the plastic film in time. When the pansy seeds grow into seedlings and have 4 to 6 leaves on the stems, they can be planted and moved to loose, breathable and fertile soil.
