Can rice water be used to water goldfish and spider plants? The correct way to water rice water

Watering the Goldfish Plant with Rice Water

Rice water can be used to water goldfish spider plants because it is rich in various trace elements. Using it to water flowers can promote growth, but it cannot replace watering. It also contains starch. If it decomposes in the soil, it is likely to attract pests and diseases. Too high a concentration can also burn the plants.

The correct way to water the goldfish plant with rice water

1. Fermentation

Put the rice water in a sealable container and add 80% of the water. Be careful not to fill it up, leave some space, then cover the bottle with a cap and place it in a well-lit place. The fermentation will be completed in about 10 days.

2. Dilute with water

After the rice washing water is decomposed and fermented, it needs to be diluted with 50 to 100 times of water, and then directly used to water the goldfish plant. The frequency of use can be once a week. This can ensure the fertility of the soil, prevent the soil from becoming compacted, and also make the nutrition of the goldfish plant more balanced.

What to do if you pour too much water while washing rice

If you water the goldfish spider plant with too much rice water, you need to loosen the soil and drain the water in time to allow the excess water to evaporate quickly. If the situation is serious, you need to directly replace the soil and replant it, because the rice water content in the potting soil is too high, which will cause the plant's roots to burn, and in severe cases it will even cause its death.
