How to grow Osmanthus fragrans so that it blooms

Flowering time of seven-mile fragrance

Sweet olive mainly blooms in April in spring and can last until September. Sometimes it also blooms in autumn and winter. It will bear fruit after flowering. The fruiting period is between September and December. The flower color is white, but with some light yellow oil spots. The flowers of sweet olive are accompanied by fragrance, which is very strong.

How to grow and bloom Osmanthus fragrans

1. Temperature: Sweet olive likes a warm environment. The most suitable temperature for it is between 20-32℃. It is not resistant to low temperatures. If the outdoor temperature is below 8℃ in winter, it is best to put it indoors. Too low a temperature will affect its growth, and 0℃ will freeze the plant.

2. Watering: Sweet olive is a plant that likes a humid environment. The soil in the pot should not be too dry, otherwise it will wither and die. Reduce watering before bud formation, which can promote the differentiation of flower buds. Water in the morning and evening in summer and autumn, water every other day in spring, reduce the amount of water in winter, and take drainage measures in the rainy season.

3. Fertilization: Sweet olive likes fertilizer. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can be applied once every half a month during the growing season. Do not apply only nitrogen fertilizer, otherwise it will be difficult to bloom. In spring, you can apply some thin cake fertilizer. Remember to apply thin fertilizer frequently.

4. Light: Osmanthus fragrans is suitable for growing in an environment with sufficient light, so that it can grow luxuriantly. If the maintenance environment is dark, it will cause it to grow poorly, not bloom or the flowers will be light in color, affecting its ornamental value.
