How to make gardenia bloom more

How to make gardenia bloom more

1. Acidic soil

Gardenia is an acidic plant, so acidic soil is more conducive to its growth and is also beneficial to its flowering period. Therefore, the acidity and alkalinity of the soil should be tested regularly. Once it is found that the soil tends to become alkaline, leaf mold should be added to the soil to make it acidic again.

2. Reasonable fertilization

When gardenia blooms again, it has a relatively high demand for nutrients. Its own nutrients plus the nutrients in the soil are difficult to meet the needs of flowering, so fertilizer is needed. It is best to ensure that the frequency of fertilization is once a week during the flowering period and twice a month during the non-flowering period; two to three times a month in spring and summer, and once a month in autumn and winter.

3. Water appropriately

It likes a warm growing environment, so you need to water it more often, but when watering, you cannot let water accumulate in the pot, as this will cause root rot. Therefore, it is best to water it as soon as the soil is dry. Don't water it too much, just make sure there is no water accumulation. You also need to spray the flower buds with water every day to ensure that they have a moist growing environment.

4. Prune frequently

There are two time periods for pruning. One is during the growing season, when unhealthy branches should be cut off. This pruning will increase the quantity and quality of flowering. The other time is after the flowering period, when the dead and diseased branches should be pruned off to concentrate its nutrients, so that the next time the flowers bloom more in quantity and with better quality.
