What soil is suitable for growing sweet potatoes?

Introduction to Sweet Potato

Sweet potato, also known as Ganchu, Zhushu, and Fanru, is widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions. It is a high-yield and highly adaptable food crop and should be planted in soil with deep soil layers and good soil quality.

What is the best way to grow sweet potatoes?

Sweet potatoes are best planted in sandy loam with deep soil, loose soil and good drainage. When the soil is heavy and sticky, the shape of the potatoes is irregular and they are not resistant to storage. However, sandy loam and sandy soil have poor water retention, so the soil fertility should be gradually improved through fertilization and other measures to achieve high yields.

How to prepare sweet potato nutrient soil

Sweet potato sandy loam is actually very easy to prepare. Just prepare river sand and garden soil, mix them together in a ratio of 2:1 or 3:1, and mix them with some soil with higher fertility.

Mix the crushed pine needle powder, tobacco tendon powder and walnut outer green peel powder in a mass ratio of 0.5: 1: 1; add water and stir until fluffy, then add 200 times liquid of straw fermentation agent or an aqueous solution of straw fermentation agent containing sucrose and sodium chloride salt, mix evenly, pile up and cover with plastic cloth for fermentation. The fermentation time is 1 year. Spread the fermented nutrient soil in the sun for 2 days, then add an equal mass of humus soil and stir evenly.
