The right time to sow basil

Basil is a plant of the Lamiaceae family with strong medicinal effects. It is distributed in subtropical areas and generally blooms about three months after sowing. Its flowering period is approximately from June to September.

Basil is suitable for sowing in mid-April. The rainy season has not yet arrived at this time, which is just right for the seeds to germinate. After about two weeks of growth, the seedlings can complete their initial development when there is abundant rain, and then enter a period of rapid growth and mature in a few months.

How to sow basil

1. Prepare the soil

Basil is suitable for growing in an environment with good soil permeability. When preparing it, you can use peat soil and add a certain amount of gravel. Use a small shovel or hoe to soften it thoroughly before planting.

2. Plant and water

Next, plant the basil seeds in the soil, lightly cover them with the same soil, try to keep it loose, pour in an appropriate amount of water, keep the soil at a high degree of moisture to promote seed germination.

Tips and tricks for growing basil

1. Lighting

Basil seedlings are relatively delicate and cannot be directly exposed to full sunlight. The sunlight is relatively strong at noon, which can easily burn the new branches and leaves, causing the plants to wither and die.

2. Moisture

Basil requires more water during its growth process and is a water-loving plant. However, its root system is not mature during the seedling period. Try to water it as little as possible and keep the soil dry to facilitate the plant's breathing.
