What fertilizer is suitable for lentils?

Lentils should be fertilized appropriately according to their growth. During the growth period, use Fujinmen's special water-soluble fertilizer for promoting root growth to improve stress resistance and promote root growth. During the flowering and fruiting period, use high-nitrogen and high-potassium water-soluble fertilizer to increase the flowering and fruiting rate. During the fruit swelling period, high-potassium water-soluble fertilizer can be used to improve the quality and yield of lentils.

Lentil fertilization method

1. Base fertilizer

When preparing the land for lentils, high-quality farmyard manure can be applied as base fertilizer, about 2000-3000 kg, depending on the planting area. In addition, the farmyard manure must be fully decomposed to avoid root damage and seedling death.

2. Seedling fertilizer

Generally, no fertilizer is applied and watering is not recommended during the flowering period of lentils, as this will inhibit the growth of the vines. However, if the plant growth is found to be weak, quick-acting fertilizer can be applied along with the water to promote the growth of the seedlings.

3. Flowering and pod-forming fertilizer

During the inflorescence and pod-setting period, water once every 12 to 15 days and apply fertilizer once, applying about 10 kg of 3-yuan compound fertilizer or 100 kg of human feces and urine per mu;

During the mid-inflorescence pod-setting period, water every 8 to 10 days and apply topdressing fertilizer, with 7 to 8 kg of urea per mu, to promote the nutritional growth of lentils;

During the inflorescence flowering period and pod-setting period, the vines grow vigorously and the flowers are luxuriant. Usually water them once every 10 days or so, with 5 kg of urea per mu. In addition, attention should be paid to potassium supplementation, with 5 kg of potassium sulfate applied per mu.

4. Harvest fertilizer

After picking the first crop of lentils, the remaining flower buds will develop rapidly and produce the second crop of fruit, so fertilizer should be applied after each picking to facilitate the second crop of fruit.

Lentil fertilization precautions

When sowing lentils, sufficient base fertilizer should be applied to the seedbed. When transplanting, compound fertilizer and diammonium phosphate should be mixed into the soil to ensure the nutrient needs of the plant seedlings. Top dressing should be applied once after the beginning of autumn to promote the growth of pods.
