What to do if azalea root rots

What to do if azalea root rots

1. Watering

One of the reasons is excessive watering. If you find that the source is this, you should place it in a cooler place and increase ventilation so that the soil in the pot will not be too wet and the symptoms can be alleviated. We cannot expose it to direct sunlight, and we can only continue watering after the soil in the pot is dry. It usually takes two weeks before we can start normal maintenance, and new roots will slowly grow during this period.

Normally, we still need to improve the water quality. It is best to use rainwater. If not, pond water, river water, etc. will also be fine. If tap water is needed, it is better to let it sit for a few days. As for the time, it is about once every seven to ten days.

2. Fertilizer

If it is because the fertilizer is too concentrated, we should use a lot of water to wash away the fertilizer. After that, we should still put it in a well-ventilated place and prevent it from direct exposure to sunlight. In addition, we do not need to use chemical fertilizers when watering. Instead, we can use some animal manure mixed with vinegar water.

3. Change the soil

If the roots are severely rotten, we need to take it out of the soil, cut off the rotten roots, and then put it in a new pot. It is best to water it with some rooting water, and then place it in a cooler place, away from direct sunlight.

4. Root rot

This disease is caused by a fungus and usually occurs in the rhizome area because this area is usually very wet and does not receive much sunlight. If such a disease occurs, we must dispose of the dead plants in time, and the soil must also be disposed of, because this thing has a very strong infectious ability and can easily spread in alkaline, humid and high temperature places. The nearby plants can be cleaned with potassium permanganate, then washed with clean water, and then potted. You can also consider spraying the potting soil with a fixed concentration of thiophanate, which will help eradicate it.
