The best time to plant sea buckthorn trees

Seabuckthorn fruit is best planted in April to early May and in autumn from mid-October to early November, which is conducive to its germination and growth. The flower buds of seabuckthorn fruit emerge in early May, the inflorescence elongates, the small flowers gradually open in early and mid-May, and the fruits begin to develop in late May. Branches can basically grow after 30 days, and whether they bloom or not depends on the maintenance conditions after another 90 days.

How to plant sea buckthorn fruit trees

1. Direct planting

⑴ Determine the row spacing: Determine the sowing row spacing in the cultivation site. The row spacing between sea buckthorn trees is generally larger, choose about 40 to 50 cm.

⑵ Dig planting trenches: In the plot of land to be planted, determine the row spacing and dig planting trenches with a depth of about 15 cm and a width of 10 to 15 cm.

⑶ Apply base fertilizer: When planting sea buckthorn trees, it is best to apply some base fertilizer, farmyard manure or diammonium phosphate, which is very suitable for the growth of sea buckthorn. The farmyard manure should not be laid too thickly, 8 to 10 cm is enough; when using diammonium phosphate, the amount should not be too large, and it should be fully mixed with the soil to avoid excessive concentration and bud burn.

⑷ Sowing and covering with soil: Sprinkle the germinated seeds evenly into the planting ditch, cover with 2 to 3 cm of fine sand, and press lightly with your feet or other auxiliary tools.

2. Transplanting

Transplantation is only suitable for spring planting and requires seedling raising. The row spacing is not considered during seedling raising. Moderately dense sowing can be done. The method is the same as direct planting. The difference is that the sea buckthorn seedlings raised in spring are planted with a spacing of about 1 meter between plants and 2 meters between rows. Dig trenches or dig holes for planting. Apply base fertilizer before planting and topdress after survival.

Precautions for seabuckthorn fruit tree planting and management

1. Soil environment: Sea buckthorn trees can grow normally in poor and dry places. Use sandy soil and be careful not to water it.

2. Light: If you keep it at home, except for appropriate shade at noon in summer, it can be placed in the sun at other times.

3. Water and fertilizer: Water appropriately at ordinary times. As long as the soil is not short of water for a long time, there will be basically no problem. Apply compound fertilizer with high phosphorus and potassium content once or twice a month.
