How to make loquat seeds germinate quickly

Loquat seed germination environment

After eating the loquats, leave the core, dry it (no need to dry it completely), seal it and store it in a dry environment, waiting to be sown in the spring of the following year.

In order for loquat seeds to germinate faster, a suitable environment needs to be provided. They are suitable for planting in deep, loose, humus-rich sandy, gravel loam or clay. They like a warm environment and can grow normally when the annual average temperature is above 12°C. They begin to germinate above 10°C. The temperature should not be higher than 35 degrees. Adequate light and maintenance are also required.

Loquat seed germination process

1. Wash first

Loquat seeds are easy to germinate and don’t take too much time. You can wash the seeds and remove the outer pulp first to prevent them from rotting in the soil. Then use clean water to wash off the juice outside. After washing, put them aside to dry and select the seeds that are relatively round and full.

2. Soak in warm water

In order to germinate faster, you can soak the seeds in warm water to allow them to absorb water and swell, and then place them in a warm, sunny place to germinate. If you do not want to germinate by soaking in warm water, you can also mix the seeds with a new lipid film, which can also speed up germination and isolate some pathogens.

3. Soil conditions

Before sowing the seeds, ensure the condition of the loam is good first. It must be breathable, drainable and have good permeability. The soil needs to be kept moist for a few days before sowing. This will promote germination as soon as possible, but it should not be too moist, otherwise the seeds will rot.

Direct planting of loquat seeds

Loquat seeds can germinate when planted directly with the germination end facing downward. It is a dicotyledonous plant. As long as the soil maintains appropriate moisture and temperature, and not too much fertilizer, even if it germinates, the germination rate will be very low.

Loquat seed germination

You need to choose plump and uniform loquat seeds, soak them in clean water, and the seeds will germinate in about a week. During the germination period, you need to constantly change the water and the temperature should be maintained between 25-30 degrees.

Loquat seed germination planting method

After loquat seeds germinate, they can be directly sown in loose and fertile soil. Prepare a flowerpot, put a few broken tiles at the bottom of the pot, put coarse sand on it, and then put nutrient soil. Plant the loquat seeds in the pot, cover them with a layer of fine soil after planting, water them appropriately, and place them in a place with scattered light for maintenance. They will sprout in about 2 weeks.
