How to trim gray lily

How to trim gray lily

1. Growth period

The growth rate of gray lily is very fast, so it doesn’t matter if you accidentally cut it too hard, especially during the growing season, when there are many buds. If you don’t pay attention to pruning, the branches and buds will grow more and more messy and need to be pruned in time. When you find bad buds growing at the bottom of the plant, you need to cut them off in time. This will not only reduce nutrient consumption but also maintain the beauty of the plant. If the plant is not pruned, it will consume a lot of nutrients, which will not be enough for the growth of the main flower branches, and the quantity and quality of the flowers will become a problem.

2. After flowering

After the flowers bloom, the remaining flowers should be removed in time and not left on the branches. This is not only unsightly, but can also cause rot and unnecessary diseases. Some flower branches need to be pruned short, cutting off part of the branches to prevent nutrient consumption.

3. Trimming and shaping

It is highly ornamental and very resistant to pruning. The tree can be trimmed into various shapes such as spherical and fan-shaped according to the desired shape. In order to maintain its beautiful shape, it needs to be pruned in a timely manner.

4. Remove the top

During the seedling stage, the apical dominance is very obvious, and the plant can only grow in an elongated manner, while the growth of other branches is difficult to supply. The apex can be removed to promote the growth of side branches and make the plant full and lush.
