How to water millet star in winter

Watering millet star in winter

In winter, millet star needs to be cut off from water. Millet star is a "winter type" among succulents. It will grow as usual in the cold winter, but the growth is extremely slow at this time. Watering should be stopped. Keeping the soil in the pot dry will help the plant safely overwinter.

Never water the millet plant in winter. Keeping the basin dry can protect the millet fruits. When growing millet plants indoors in winter, keep the temperature above 5°C.

Improper watering of millet star in winter

Millet plant will die if it is not watered properly in winter. Its growth is very slow in winter, and it can only survive normally and safely if the soil in the pot is dry. Therefore, once the millet plant is watered, its soil will easily freeze, causing injury to the roots of the millet plant or even death.

Fertilizing millet in winter

If the indoor temperature is suitable in winter, you can apply a small amount of granular fertilizer to promote the growth of millet star. It is not advisable to apply liquid fertilizer to prevent the fertilizer liquid temperature from being too low and causing the plant roots to freeze. However, do not apply fertilizer when the temperature is too low.

Precautions for watering millet in winter

1. The evaporation rate of water of millet star is relatively slow in winter, so watering should be controlled. If the indoor temperature is lower than five degrees, you need to stop watering to avoid freezing the roots of millet star. If the indoor temperature is relatively high and can be maintained above 15 degrees, you can give it normal maintenance.

2. Millet star does not need to be watered in winter, because if there is water in the millet star pot, it will be difficult to evaporate, which will cause black rot in the branches.
