The provinces where bayberry is distributed in China include Jiangxi, Sichuan, Anhui, Taiwan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, Guangdong, Hunan, Guangxi, etc. It is cultivated in small quantities in Japan and South Korea, and is also distributed in Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, the Philippines, India, Myanmar, etc.

Bayberry planting time

When planting bayberry in cold winter areas such as Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hunan and Jiangxi, it is best to plant it in spring, that is, from February to March. In warm areas without severe winter cold, it can be planted in autumn and spring, that is, from October to December, or from February to March of the following year.

Bayberry planting benefits

The cost of bayberry seedlings per acre is 3,500 yuan, and it usually takes three years of maintenance before it can be harvested. The cost of fertilizer, pesticide, labor, picking, etc. during these three years is about 7,000 yuan, and the total cost per acre is about 10,500 yuan.

The yield of bayberry per mu is about 400-500 kilograms. The price of bayberry on the market varies. When it is first on the market, it is 10-20 yuan per catty, while some high-quality ones are more than 30 yuan per catty. The output value per mu is about 8,000-10,000 yuan.

The annual yield of bayberry is higher every year, and some varieties will not reach peak production until 10 years later, so you must be mentally prepared when planting. It is a long-term planting project that requires patience.
