Planting Cymbidium orchids, choose the right soil

The key to whether Cymbidium orchid can be grown well lies in the soil. Cymbidium orchid is a semi-aerial flower and must be grown in acidic soil containing humus. The mountain mud for growing Cymbidium orchids in mountainous areas has better cultivation effect. You can also prepare the soil for Cymbidium orchids yourself by using 70% sandy soil and 30% coarse-grained humus soil. After mixing, it can be used after being stored for more than three years. The selected potting soil should be sieved to separate the coarse particles from the fine particles, and the potting soil should be sterilized to prevent the occurrence of diseases and pests.

Protect the root system and be careful when potting

Wild flowers have not yet grown new roots and many of them are broken. You need to clean the soil around the roots, wash them with clean water, and cut off the dead leaves and leaf tips of the dried bananas. For leaves infected with disease and insect spots, the spots should be cut off without mercy. In addition, the rotten, withered old roots should be cut off. If the Cymbidium has no complete roots, the old roots without root tips and root cores should be retained. Generally two hours of light is enough.

Promote growth and change pots frequently

In fact, it is only necessary to keep the Cymbidium orchids somewhat moist. Flowers grown without soil prefer to be wet rather than dry. Cymbidium does not have high requirements for water and does not like to be kept too wet. According to the season, control the temperature

Cymbidium is relatively cold-resistant and can spend the winter indoors except in very cold winters. Generally, when the outdoor temperature is between 2 ℃ and 3 ℃, the Cymbidium should be moved indoors in time. The temperature is high in summer, and in the dry season, the Cymbidium should be sprayed appropriately to cool down and moisturize.

Look at the growth and fertilize frequently

For newly planted Cymbidium orchids, fertilizer should not be applied until new roots of 2 cm have grown. Generally, the new roots will take about two months to grow. Some people advocate fertilizing after two years of cultivation. You can prepare the fertilizer for Cymbidium orchid yourself by mixing 4 parts of wood ash, 10 parts of bean cake, and 6 parts of bone meal, storing it in a container, and diluting it after one year of fermentation. Fertilization usually starts before May and stops at the beginning of autumn. Fertilize every 15-20 days, preferably in the evening. The principle of fertilization is to apply small amounts of fertilizer frequently.
