How long is the growth cycle of black wolfberry?

Black wolfberry growth introduction

Black wolfberry is distributed in areas with an altitude of 2900-3500 meters, an annual rainfall of 30-80 mm, and an average annual temperature of 4.6-4.8℃. It grows on alluvial fans, river banks, the edges of aeolian sand dunes and mountain saline plains.

The natural habitat conditions of black wolfberry are generally harsh, and are found in Jiuquan, Gansu, western Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang, western Inner Mongolia and Tibet.

Black wolfberry growth cycle

Black wolfberry is drought-resistant and can still grow in deserts. It is a light-loving tree species that grows healthily under full sunlight. It mostly grows in various saline habitats and soils such as saline-alkali wastelands, salinized sandy lands, salt lake shores, canal sides, river beaches, etc.

The seedling stage is within 1-2 years, and the height of the seedlings reaches 1 meter; the early fruiting period starts from the second year to the fifth year, and the rhizome thickens by 0.5-0.8 cm annually; the peak fruiting period is from the sixth year to the sixteenth year, the tree height is 1.0-1.6 meters, and the rhizome is 3-8 cm; after 20 years, it enters the aging period.

Black wolfberry growth rate

The life activities of wolfberry begin from seeds, lateral roots and branches, go through germination, form seedlings, and gradually grow into plants with roots, stems and leaves, then bloom and bear fruit. It enters leaf-shedding dormancy in early winter, and begins to sprout and grow in the spring of the following year, repeating this cycle until the plant dies.

Black wolfberry growth cycle management

During the high-yield period of black wolfberry, each plant can produce between 1.5-3.5 kg of fresh fruit and about 0.3-0.8 kg of dried fruit per year. The fresh fruit yield of black wolfberry per acre can reach between 800-1100 kg.

Fertilization management : Black wolfberry requires the most nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium during its growth process. It has a long growth and fruiting period in a year, so providing it with sufficient water and fertilizer is beneficial to its growth and flowering and fruiting.
