How long is the growing cycle of rapeseed?

Introduction to Rapeseed Growth

Rapeseed is a long-day crop that prefers cool and warm climates. The average daily temperature during the entire growing period needs to be below 22 degrees. It is mainly divided into winter rapeseed and spring rapeseed. It is widely distributed in northern Europe and North America and Canada, and is also planted in both north and south China.

Rapeseed growth cycle

Rapeseed has a wide adaptability to soil and can be planted in various soil types such as sandy soil, clay, red and yellow loam, etc. It is drought-resistant and very sensitive to the element boron. When the soil lacks boron, it will cause death and affect yield.

The growing cycle of winter rapeseed takes 8 months, and the growing cycle of spring rapeseed takes 5 months.

Rapeseed growth rate

Rapeseed grows quickly and germinates soon after planting. The seedling period of winter rapeseed is relatively long, more than 120 days. The bud period generally takes 25 to 30 days, and then it enters the flowering period and fruit ripening period.

Rapeseed Growth Cycle Management

Rapeseed yield is affected by variety and planting techniques, with an average yield of 200 to 270 kilograms per mu.

Temperature management: Rapeseed prefers cool and warm climates. The germination temperature needs to be above 3 degrees. It has a certain degree of cold resistance and can withstand short periods of minus 5 degrees.

Fertilization management: 7 days after transplanting rapeseed, irrigate each acre of land with urea mixed with water, or apply farmyard manure or human feces and urine mixed with water.
