Breeding techniques of Fraxinus chinensis

1. Planting

1. Seed collection: The seeds will mature in mid-to-early October. At this time, you can collect the seeds and carefully screen them to remove the dry and unfull ones. The outer skin of its seeds is relatively hard, so you can wait until next year to sow them directly, or use wet sand to germinate them.

2. Sowing: Sow in March of the second year. Prepare a sand bed and sow the seeds evenly. Cover with a thin layer of sand and water thoroughly. Control the temperature at around 30℃ and wait for germination.

2. Cutting

1. Branches: Choose a good plant and cut strong, disease-free and insect-free branches about 10 cm in length.

2. Substrate: The substrate used for cuttings must be carefully selected. Sandy soil with good water permeability can be used. Before cuttings, spray water appropriately to keep it moist.

3. Cutting: Insert the cut branches into the substrate, then spray water regularly to keep it moist, and carry out corresponding maintenance management.

3. Layering

1. Time: There is no big limit on the time of layering, but it is best to choose spring, when the survival rate will be higher.

2. Cuttings: Choose branches with good growth shape, put some rooting powder on them, and then press them into the soil with a lot of sand.

3. Transplanting: After the roots are stable, you can cut and transplant them.
