How to fertilize after the cactus grafted with Christmas cactus survives (how to make Christmas cactus grow strong)

In fact, applying fertilizer to the Christmas cactus grafted on the cactus is just like applying fertilizer to the cactus. As long as the cactus is well taken care of and strong, the Christmas cactus will obtain rich nutrients from it and will be able to grow well.

How to fertilize Christmas cactus grafted with cactus

Fertilizing the Christmas cactus grafted with cactus should be done in the following two ways:

One is to fertilize the grafted plants by burying the base fertilizer.

For example, well-rotted sheep dung balls or poultry manure can be put into the bottom of the pot as base fertilizer; wood ash is a commonly used potassium fertilizer and can be mixed into the soil.

Another option is dried cow dung from rural areas, which can be buried on the edge of the flower pot after fermentation and composting. It can not only be used as fertilizer, but also has the effect of loosening and breathing, making the potting soil more loose and permeable.

The second is to provide nutrients to the grafted plants by spraying foliar fertilizer

Such as Huaduoduo No. 2 and potassium dihydrogen phosphate, etc., mix the diluted solution according to the dilution ratio marked in the instructions, and spray it on the stems and leaves of Christmas cactus to provide the Christmas cactus plant with sufficient flower-promoting fertilizer and promote its flower bud differentiation.

It is usually carried out in autumn when the Christmas cactus enters the flower bud differentiation period. It is advisable to spray once every 15 days.

Precautions for fertilizing cactus grafted with Christmas cactus

1) Fertilizer selection

The general requirements for fertilizer for Christmas cactus grafted onto cactus are: first, it must be completely decomposed; second, it must be salt-free; third, it must be mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, supplemented by nitrogen fertilizers.

2) Reasonable fertilization

The so-called reasonable fertilization means that fertilization should be applied at the right time and in the right amount, with the right type and concentration of fertilizer. Fertilization should be applied when the plants need it most, which is mostly in spring and autumn, the peak season for growth. Therefore, fertilization is mostly carried out in spring and autumn.

Generally, topdressing should be done every 10 to 15 days, 2 to 3 times in spring, and 1 to 2 times in autumn. During the high temperature period in midsummer, fertilization should generally be stopped.

3) The temperature is too low or too high

Do not fertilize cacti when they are dormant; do not fertilize them immediately after transplanted seedlings have just sprouted new roots; do not apply too much fertilizer to cacti with aging roots or in the seedling stage, so as not to burn the roots.

Any water with a foul odor, fish washing water, salty broth, etc. cannot be used. Do not apply concentrated fertilizer or raw fertilizer.
