Soil for succulent plantsMost succulents grow in mountains or grasslands and prefer neutral or acidic soil. Therefore, if there is no acidic soil, succulents can be planted in ordinary soil. The matrix of nutrient soil is richer and better than ordinary soil, so succulents grow faster. It can be planted in ordinary soil, but it is not recommended, because ordinary soil is the soil that we can dig around us at any time, and these soils also contain certain bacteria and pests, so they need to be processed before planting succulents. How to prepare soil for succulent plants1. Commonly used succulent soil configuration The more commonly used combination method is to mix peat soil, coconut coir and perlite in a ratio of 6:2:2. While ensuring the soil is loose and breathable, some trace element fertilizers should also be added to supplement nutrition. 2. Large rhizome and succulent configuration When the rhizomes of succulents are relatively thick, the requirements for soil permeability will be relatively high. At this time, the amount of peat soil should be reduced when preparing the soil, and granular soil such as Akadama soil, Kanuma soil, pumice, vermiculite, etc. should be used instead. Changing the soil for succulent pot plants1. Choose a flower pot Generally speaking, we need to choose the flower pot according to the size of the succulent. If the flower pot is too large, then when we apply fertilizer, the fertilizer will not be able to be fully decomposed into the root system. 2. Prepare the soil Succulent plants need a well-drained, airy and loose potting soil. We can mix 5 parts of peat soil + 3 parts of granular soil + 2 parts of gardening soil. The granular soil can be made of coarse sand or coal slag. Adding some granular soil can make the potting soil more breathable and loose. 3. Potting and maintenance (1) After choosing the flower pot and potting soil, we should first pat the side wall of the flower pot with our hands. When the potting soil is somewhat loose and the succulent plant is about to fall out, we can use a small shovel to push the succulent plant directly from the bottom of the potting soil. After getting it down, remove the soil on the roots of the succulent plant. (2) Then check the root system. If part of the root system is rotten, cut it off with scissors in time. After cutting it off, spray the wound with carbendazim solution. After drying, you can put it in the pot. |
