Sunflower Introduction

Sunflower is a plant of the Asteraceae family and the genus Helianthus. The plant is 1-3.5 meters tall, and some can reach 9 meters. It has an upright stem. It is also called the morning glory, the sunflower, the sunflower, the sunflower, and the sunflower. The main garden varieties of sunflower include Golden Bear, Smile, Yellow Strong, Sun Spot, and Music Box.

Sunflower Planting Conditions

1. Temperature

Sunflower is a tropical crop that has strong adaptability to temperature and prefers warm environment, but it is also very cold-resistant. Its seeds have strong resistance to low temperatures. During the entire growth process, sunflower can grow normally as long as the temperature is not lower than 10°C. Within the suitable temperature range, the higher the temperature, the faster the development.

2. Moisture

Sunflowers like a humid environment, but their water requirements vary at different growth stages. From sowing to budding, they are relatively drought-resistant and do not need too much water, which is only 1.9% of the total water requirement. Appropriate dryness is beneficial to root growth and improves drought resistance.

3. Lighting

Sunflowers like an environment with plenty of sunlight. The seedlings, leaves, and flower disks will rotate with the sun and have a strong phototropism. If the maintenance environment lacks light, it will affect its growth and yield. It is best to place it in a sunny place for maintenance.

Sunflowers are commonly found on hillsides and in fields. They are widely distributed in China, including Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, and Inner Mongolia.

Sunflower planting time

Sunflowers can be sown all year round. The best time is from January to April in early spring or from September to October in autumn. They will bloom 60 to 70 days after sowing. If sown in May to August or November to December, they will bloom in about 70 to 80 days.

Sunflower Planting Benefits

The yield of edible sunflowers is 150-200 kilograms per mu, and the yield of oil sunflowers is 200-250 kilograms per mu. The purchase price is 14-16 yuan per catty. Basically, the profit per mu is about 1,000-2,000 yuan.
