How to keep seeds of chicken feather vegetable and how to plant them

How do the seeds of chicken feather vegetable come from?

Chicken feather vegetable is a cruciferous plant and a vegetable we often eat in our daily life. Its planting process is very interesting, starting from the third day after planting the seeds. Then, in about a week, the seeds of chicken feather vegetable germinate and gradually grow leaves. The process is very obvious and very ornamental and researchable.

Chicken feather vegetable seeds

Chicken feather vegetable seeds need to be soaked in clean water, which can speed up germination and improve survival rate.

If we want to save seeds ourselves, it is actually not complicated at all. The reason why many people are reluctant to grow chicken feather vegetables and save seeds is because they are worried that the seeds they save will have poor disease resistance.

In fact, as long as it is planted correctly, the disease resistance of Chinese cabbage is much higher than you think. Of course, when you save seeds yourself, you may also produce too few seeds or even no seeds due to improper methods.

How to collect seeds of Chinese cabbage

Cover the vegetables with plastic wrap and put them in the refrigerator. It is best to place the seeds in a dry glass bottle away from a humid place.

Preservation of radish seeds

Chicken feather vegetable seeds can be stored and collected in a ventilated and cool place to prevent moisture and ensure the survival rate. Do not place them in a humid environment. It is best to sow them as soon as possible.

Planting of radish seeds

Chicken feather vegetables can be planted in four seasons: spring from November to February, summer from April to August, and autumn and winter from August to November.

1. Land preparation and fertilization

The vegetable growth cycle of Chinese cabbage is very short. One week before reclamation, 1,000 kg of humus fertilizer is applied per mu, buried in the soil with a plow, and furrows are made after leveling. It is mostly planted in greenhouses in spring, usually with shallow beds. Summer is a season of high temperature and high rainfall, which is conducive to irrigation and drainage. The temperature in autumn and winter is higher than in spring, but shorter than in summer.

2. Planting

When sowing, the seeds will be sown evenly on the edges. After sowing, the edges will be shallowly rake, the seeds will be covered, and then stepped on. Watering will be done according to the dryness and wetness of the soil. Generally, 2 kilograms are sown per mu. Summer is a high temperature season for sowing, so from sowing to seedling emergence, shading measures should be taken to avoid direct ignition of the seedlings to death.

Moreover, if the weather is dry, you need to water once before sowing. After the water penetrates into the soil, the soil must be kept moist before emergence. The temperature in summer is high, the survival rate is low, and the sowing amount is also large. Generally, 2kg is sown per mu. Autumn sowing is also in a high temperature period. If the soil is too dry, you should water it first. The sowing method and sowing speed are the same as in spring.

3. Field management

Chicken feather vegetables are easy to grow. If sufficient base fertilizer is applied, it can only be harvested after two topdressings. At the same time, the soil should always be kept moist and hydrated, but it cannot be watered with large amounts of water. At the same time, attention should be paid to the intrusion of pests and diseases, mainly viral diseases such as aphids, vegetable green worms, and diamondback moths, and prevention and control work should be done as soon as possible.
