Symptoms and prevention of frostbite on the lucky tree

Symptoms and prevention of frostbite on the lucky tree

1. Symptoms of frostbite

The phenomenon of frostbite on the lucky tree is relatively easy to identify. First, the leaves began to droop, and the whole plant seemed to wilt. Then the leaves dry up. Unlike the drying up caused by other reasons, the drying up caused by frostbite occurs when the leaves are still green. Moreover, the dry leaves will not fall off and can still hang on the tree.

2. Prevention and control methods

1. Check the roots: After the lucky tree is frozen, the first thing to do is to check the roots, because whether the roots are alive means whether the plant can be cured. If the roots turn black and break easily, it means there is no possibility of treatment. If the roots are white, further treatment can be carried out.

2. Repotting and pruning: After frostbite, the lucky tree needs to be pruned and repotted. First, take out the plant, cut off the dead and damaged roots, then trim the branches, disinfect the roots with carbendazim, and then repot it.

3. Keep warm: The lucky tree is not suitable for low temperature environment. To avoid frostbite again, keeping warm is necessary. First of all, you can cover the soil in the pot with a plastic bag when potting. This will ensure the temperature and humidity of the roots. Open it once every 3 days to water and ventilate. In addition, the upper part of the plant can also be wrapped with plastic wrap.

4. Do not apply fertilizer: The lucky tree that has begun to recover cannot be fertilized immediately, because fertilizer can easily cause root burns or absorb water, so it needs to be nurtured for a period of time before fertilizing it after the plant takes root and sprouts.
