Methods and precautions for propagation of green radish by cuttings

How to propagate green radish

Pothos is a plant of the genus Epipremnum and also a large evergreen vine. It likes to be planted in tropical areas. It has strong winding ability and well-developed aerial roots, and can be maintained in water.

Pothos is generally propagated by cuttings. In late spring and early summer, select sturdy Pothos vines with a length of about 15-30 cm. Remove the leaves at the base, taking care not to damage the aerial roots. The survival rate after planting is over 90%.

How to propagate green radish by cuttings

1. Selection and processing of cuttings: First, choose disease-free, sturdy, semi-lignified green radish branches with a length of 10-13 cm. Cut them diagonally at the bottom to increase the water absorption area. The leaves at the base can be cut off to reduce water evaporation and facilitate the survival of the cuttings.

2. Cutting medium: Pothos is suitable for planting in loose, breathable, well-drained loam or sandy soil with high humus content. Vermiculite can be used, which will allow for fast rooting and a high survival rate. The soil needs to be disinfected before use to prevent the presence of bacteria and insect eggs.

3. Cutting method: Place the lower end of the cuttings in rooting powder or indolebutyric acid, and then insert it into the prepared soil, with half of the cuttings buried in the soil. Water thoroughly once to make the cuttings in close contact with the substrate, and cover them with plastic film.

4. Management after cutting: After the green radish is cut, it needs to be watered in time, and the environmental humidity needs to be maintained at a high level, preferably 80%-90%. If the light is very strong, it is necessary to provide shade, and it is best to provide diffuse light maintenance. Generally, the roots will take shape after 20 days, and then the film can be lifted to increase the light exposure time. If the temperature is low, take measures to keep warm.

Precautions for cuttings of green radish

The common method of propagating green radish cuttings is to insert them into the soil. First, you need to choose sturdy green radish vines and divide them into two parts. During the cutting process, do not damage the aerial roots. During the maintenance period, the soil needs to be kept moist, and water and spray water in time, then it will take root soon.
