Is the yield of sea rice high? What is the yield per mu?

Is sea rice high in yield?

Sea rice is a salt- and alkali-tolerant rice. Its yield is not very high, generally around 75-150 kilograms per mu. However, with the continuous improvement of sea rice varieties, the yield per mu is also increasing year by year, and the average yield per mu can reach more than 500 kilograms.

How to grow sea rice to get high yield

1. Seed selection and processing

The seeds of sea rice should be selected to be salt-alkali resistant, waterlogging resistant, and have strong tillering ability. They should have a plump appearance and uniform grain shape. Soaking them in water for 2-3 days before sowing can increase the germination rate of the seeds.

2. Sowing

Sea rice can be sown in spring or autumn, preferably on rainy days to avoid periods with higher temperatures. When sowing, the seeds should be inserted shallowly, straightly and evenly, and the planting density should be 25x25 cm.

3. Thinning and replanting

After sowing, if any areas are found to be short of seedlings, they need to be filled immediately to avoid wasting land. In addition, if planted in coastal tidal flats, rice must be planted densely with a row spacing of 20x13 cm.

4. Reasonable irrigation

Sea rice is a water-loving food plant. If it is planted on tidal flats, it does not need irrigation and can rely on seawater. However, if it is planted on saline-alkali land, sea rice must be irrigated in time.
