Lotus is a plant of the Nelumbo family, distributed in provinces in northern and southern China. It is generally best to sow it from April in spring to August in summer, and it can be sown several times a year.

1. Planting temperature : It is generally believed that the lotus should be planted at the right time, and the temperature should be around 20°C. Do not plant after the temperature drops to avoid affecting flowering.

2. Prepare lotus seeds : Before planting lotus, prepare soft lotus seeds. Lotus fruit is very hard and must be torn open manually before use. Make a small hole at the end with a small pinhole.

3. Soaking seeds : Soak the broken lotus seeds in clean water. The water in the basin cannot cover the lotus seeds. During the germination period, the water must be changed every day. They will germinate after soaking for about a week.

Lotus Planting Tips

1. Light : Lotus seeds need to be maintained in good sunlight. Its growth cannot be separated from sunlight. If there is a lack of sunlight, it will seriously affect its growth and flowering. It needs to be exposed to direct sunlight for at least 5-6 hours a day. The best way is to place it in a sunny place where it can be easily exposed to sunlight.

2. Maintain water temperature : The growing environment of lotus seeds needs to be kept warm, and the water temperature should be kept above 20 degrees Celsius to promote good growth and ensure good flowering.

3. Soil selection : Before planting lotus seeds, a suitable substrate needs to be provided to ensure a good growth foundation. Natural pond mud and silt can be used. If not, a mixture of garden soil, loess and yellow sand can be used, or a certain amount of base fertilizer can be applied to maintain the nutritional needs of growth.

Lotus Flowering Time

It takes about 70 days from lotus sowing to flowering. If sown in March, it will bloom in July and August in summer. If sown in June, it will bloom in September.
