Is deep pot suitable for roses or shallow pots?

Should I use a deep pot or a shallow pot for roses?

Roses are generally planted and maintained in deep pots because the rose plants are relatively large and even small seedlings grow very fast. Using shallow pots cannot ensure normal root growth. Using deep pots can provide the roots with enough space to grow.

When planting roses, there are certain requirements for the material of the flower pots. Try to avoid black plastic pots. Generally, it is best to use pots that are breathable and have good drainage. Usually, ceramic pots, porcelain pots or purple clay pots can be used to plant roses.

How to repot roses

1. Rose repotting time

Roses can be repotted around March in spring, or around September in autumn. Usually, the climate should be warmer when repotting, not too cold.

2. Watering after repotting roses

Roses need to be watered immediately after being repotted. Generally, the soil needs to be watered thoroughly at one time, and there should be no accumulation of water. Usually there is no fixed frequency for watering, and the soil just needs to be kept moist.

3. Notes on Rose Repotting

(1) Time: Generally, you only need to change the potting soil of roses every 1 or 2 years. Do not change the pots too frequently, otherwise it will be difficult to keep the roses alive.

(2) Pruning: When repotting roses, you need to cut off the rotten roots after removing them from the pots. Then disinfect them and apply some rooting powder.

(3) Potting soil: When repotting roses, it is best to use a mixture of pond soil, peat soil and cottonseed hulls to ensure good ventilation and drainage.
