Flower buds and scale buds will begin to differentiate if the sunshine time is more than 13 hours. It will grow leaves if the sunshine time is short. It likes a humid environment and needs timely watering during the growth period to keep the soil moist.

It takes 8 months from sowing to harvesting of garlic. It is usually sown in October each year and harvested in June of the following year. The yield of garlic varies from different varieties and regions. Generally, the yield of garlic per mu is between 1,600 and 2,500 jin. The yield per mu of frequently planted plots is about 2,000 jin.
