How to grow small-leaf gardenia

1. Breeding environment

(1) Soil: The most important requirement is that it must be acidic. In addition, it must be nutritious and loose. You can choose to mix leaf mold, peat soil, garden soil, and add some sawdust.

(2) Watering: It is best to determine the amount of water based on the condition of the surface soil. Water after the surface is dry. Best at night.

(3) Fertilization: First apply base fertilizer, use decomposed cake fertilizer. Furthermore, alum fertilizer and water are needed once a week during the growing season. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate should also be used during the flowering period. However, stop fertilizing if the temperature is above thirty-five or below fifteen.

(4) Light: It likes light, but is afraid of too strong light. It is best to keep the light intensity at around 60%.

The plant grows vigorously and needs to be repotted regularly. It is usually changed in March in spring. Use new soil and change the pot depending on the specific situation.

3. Proper pruning

According to the overall shape, only three main branches are needed. The rest of the branches that are too dense, dry, or diseased should be disposed of in time.

(1) Seeding method: This is the main method. Usually in spring. However, using this method, it will germinate very slowly. It may even take about a year for buds to sprout, and three or four years for flowers to bloom.

(2) Cutting method: In the south, it can be done between April and the beginning of autumn, while in the north, it needs to be done in a greenhouse. Choose two-year-old branches as materials, and transplant them after they have taken root. It will bloom in about two years.
