How to grow potted Impatiens

How to grow potted Impatiens

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: Potted Impatiens requires soil with strong drainage. For home cultivation, you can use a mixture of garden soil, sandy soil and leaf mold.

2. Water: The soil needs to be kept moist during its growth period. Water will evaporate faster in summer, so it needs to be watered in time, but there should be no water accumulation in the potting soil. When it rains, drainage must be done well to prevent root rot.

3. Light: Give it 4 hours of light every day. It is best not to be exposed to strong sunlight. Shade is needed in summer.

4. Fertilization: Apply sufficient base fertilizer during cultivation, and apply 1-2 times of thin fertilizer water during growth to avoid excessive growth.

2. Breeding Methods

Seed propagation: Generally carried out from March to September each year, but the best time to sow is April. When sowing, sow the seeds in the furrow and cover them with a layer of soil, compact it slightly and then water it. After sowing, keep the soil moist and try to provide it with a growing environment of 25℃. When the seedlings have 2-3 leaves, they can be transplanted.

3. Common pests and diseases

Impatiens has strong growth capabilities and rarely suffers from diseases and pests. However, if the temperature and humidity are high for a long time, powdery mildew will occur. When the plant is diseased, it is necessary to spray it with carbendazim or thiophanate-methyl.
