How to save celery seeds

Celery Seed Introduction

Celery has seeds, which mature 1-5 days after flowering. Its fruit is thick and kidney-shaped, laterally flattened, about 1.5 mm long and 0.8 mm wide, with a gray-brown to dark brown surface, filamentous ridges, arcuate and concave commissure, and kidney-shaped seeds.

How to save celery seeds

Celery seeds are taken from the tiny flowers of celery, so the seeds are also very small, oval in shape, and mostly brown or dark brown in color.

If you want to preserve celery seeds, wait until they bloom and then put the seeds in cardboard, and then place them in a dry place. After wintering, before planting, wash the soaked seeds with clean water, remove them and drain the water, wrap them with breathable cloth, cover them with a towel, and place them at 15℃~20℃ for germination.

Propagation of Celery Seeds

Celery seeds can be planted. Celery can be planted three times a year, depending on the region. Spring celery is grown in protected areas in the north from January to March, planted in the open field from March to April, and harvested from May to July. March is the suitable sowing period in the Yangtze River Basin, and the growing period is 3 months. After maturity, it will bloom first and then grow seeds.

How to Plant Celery Seeds

1. Choose the soil

When planting celery, you need to choose suitable soil. Celery is suitable for growing in soil with rich mineral content and good drainage. When planting, you can choose sandy loam with rich trace elements and loose soil as the planting base soil. Before planting, you need to renovate the soil to keep the soil permeable.

2. Germination treatment

When planting celery, the seeds need to be germinated. First, you need to select seeds with full grains and no diseases or insect pests. Then pour them into a basin of water and pour clean water into the basin so that the water surface just covers the seeds. After soaking for a day, rub the seeds with your palms to make the seed coat fall off, then you can take them out and drain them.

3. On-demand planting

After the moisture on the surface of the celery seeds has been drained, you can sow them in the soil prepared in advance and cover them with fine soil. When sowing, it is important to note that only two seeds can be placed in each hole, and the distance between each two holes needs to be controlled at about fifteen centimeters to prevent the celery from being planted too densely and competing for nutrients.
