Does chamomile prefer shade or sun?

Chamomile is easy to grow and is especially suitable for growing at home. It is a light-loving plant. When growing it normally, it is best to give it sufficient light. If it is scattered light, then you should let it get the light for a while longer.

Does chamomile like the sun?

Chamomile is a sun-loving plant and should receive at least 8 hours of sunlight a day. Except for the summer when it needs shade, it needs direct sunlight every day in the other three seasons.

Chamomile can be exposed to the sun in summer, but not to excessive exposure. It is most afraid of excessive exposure. After two hours of exposure, the leaves will slowly wither. At this time, it should be shaded by about 50%. If the leaves wither too severely, it is best to grow them directly indoors.

Is chamomile shade tolerant?

Chamomile is not shade-tolerant and is a sun-loving plant, so it cannot be planted directly in a shady place. Short-term shade will not affect its growth, but if it is in complete shade, it will slowly wither.

Chamomile growing environment

Chamomile prefers slightly acidic soil. It is suitable to be planted in loose soil, such as a mixture of garden soil and river sand. In addition, chamomile is most resistant to temperatures around minus 5-10 degrees Celsius, but it prefers a cooler climate. When cultivating it, try to avoid high temperature environments, especially during its seedling stage. It is more appropriate to control the temperature between 15-18°C.

Chamomile does not like water, but likes dryness. It is more afraid of waterlogging. Do not water it too much when caring for it. Watering it once a week is enough. It doesn’t matter if it is a little dry, but you must avoid waterlogging.
