Lettuce has seeds, and the flowering and fruiting period is from February to September. The seeds are oblanceolate, about 4 mm long, flattened, and light brown in color. The fine veins on the seeds are obvious, the apex is acute, and the beak is filamentous.

How to save lettuce seeds

Do not harvest the lettuce after it grows and matures. A stem will grow inside the heart of the vegetable. In autumn, the seeds will mature and can be harvested at this time.

To germinate lettuce seeds, you can use the hanging method in a well. Put the soaked seeds into a cloth bag and hang it in the well, 0.5 meters from the water surface. Take out the seeds, change the water and wash them every day. Continue for about 3-4 days.

Lettuce seed propagation

Lettuce can be planted from seeds, usually in spring from February to April. When the temperature is stable at 15-20℃, it will germinate about 3-5 days after sowing and can be harvested in the same year of planting.
