How to plant hydrangeas? When and how to plant them

When to plant hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are best planted from March to May and from August to October, so if interested growers want to plant hydrangeas, they must choose to sow hydrangeas during this time period.

How to plant hydrangea

1. Flower pot: Hydrangea is relatively large in size, so when choosing a flower pot, you should choose a larger one. You can choose a larger flower pot between 30-35 cm.

2. Soil: The soil for planting hydrangeas should be loose, fertile, well-drained and water-retaining so that the roots can grow well.

3. Light: Hydrangea needs a certain amount of light after planting, but it is necessary to provide shade. Just give it 3 to 6 hours of light a day.

How to plant the hydrangeas you just bought

1. The soil should be loose and have good drainage. You can also use a mixing bucket to mix leaf mold and garden soil, then add fertilizer and stir.

2. Watering. When the leaves of hydrangea gradually change color, you need to water it frequently to keep the soil moist. Especially when the temperature rises, you need to water it abundantly. If there is not enough water, the color of the flowers will not be bright enough and the flowers will not be full.

3. Pruning: After flowering, the branches should be shortened to prevent nutrient loss. After new branches grow, the buds on the new branches should be removed to promote their growth.

How to grow hydrangea quickly

During normal cultivation, it should be exposed to bright light, but also avoid the scorching sun, and take shade measures. It is best to provide loose, well-drained sandy soil. The temperature should not be lower than 5℃ in winter. The potting soil should be kept moist and sufficient water should be maintained during the growing season. Fertilize and water every 15 days during the growth stage, and spray foliar fertilizer appropriately before flowering and during the bud stage.

Precautions for potted cultivation of hydrangea

Hydrangea needs sufficient fertilizer to grow. During the growth period, thin cake fertilizer water can be applied every half a month, preferably in the morning or evening.

Hydrangeas require a lot of water to grow, especially in summer when the evaporation is high, so they need to be watered in a timely manner, but the amount of watering must be controlled so as not to cause water accumulation.
