Loquat Tree Growth Environment and Conditions

Loquat prefers a warm, humid, sunny environment. It is slightly shade-tolerant and suitable for planting in moist, well-drained soil. It is not cold-resistant and grows slowly. The average temperature is above 12-15 degrees. In winter, it needs to be above minus 5 degrees. The temperature during the flowering and young fruit stages is not lower than 0 degrees. It can grow well in areas.

Loquat trees are mainly distributed in Gansu, Shaanxi, Henan, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian and Taiwan in China. They are widely cultivated in various places. There are wild ones in Sichuan and Hubei. They are also cultivated in Japan, India, Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand and Indonesia.

Loquat Tree Growing Conditions

Loquats usually bloom in late autumn and early winter, and the fruits ripen in spring to early summer. In the cold northern regions, the plants are not cold-resistant and it is best not to plant them. However, loquat trees that have been cultivated and domesticated have a certain degree of cold resistance and can be planted. They are adaptable to a wide range of soils and can grow and bear fruit in general soils, but they grow better in loose soil with good drainage.

Loquat tree growth temperature

Loquat trees prefer an environment with slightly higher temperatures and can grow well when the annual average temperature is above 12 degrees. There is a group of loquat trees that have been cultivated and domesticated in northern Jiangsu that can tolerate cold weather and can grow when the annual average temperature is between -10-30℃.

The growth process of loquat tree

1. The young fruit of loquat mainly includes the receptacle, ovary and calyx. The flesh of the fruit is formed by the receptacle. There are two ovules in each chamber of the young fruit, but not all fertilized ovules will become seeds. Some will degenerate and some will freeze to death. The young fruit can still continue to grow.

2. April to May each year is the rapid growth period of the fruit. At this time, cell division stops, cells expand rapidly, the volume of the fruit increases, and it begins to harden. After a period of maintenance, the peel turns yellow and orange-red when ripe. The flesh tissue softens, the sugar content increases, and it can be harvested soon.
