How to grow lavender in autumn

How to grow lavender in autumn

1. Suitable light

In autumn, it is very important to maintain appropriate light, because lavender has high requirements for light, which should not be too weak or too strong. Therefore, in early autumn, avoid direct sunlight that is too strong. In late autumn, provide ample light. Even as winter approaches, it is possible to provide light exposure throughout the day.

2. Appropriate amount of water

Lavender itself likes a slightly dry environment and is afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, when adding water in autumn, be sure to wait until the soil is dry before watering. Note that each time you water, do not allow it to be half-permeable. It is best to allow it to be fully permeable, but without water accumulation.

3. Suitable temperature

The most suitable range is between fifteen and twenty-five degrees. The temperature in late autumn should not be too low, as lavender will go dormant below zero degrees.

4. Proper pruning

Lavender blooms mainly in the summer, so fall may be the time when it finishes blooming. So it is best to prune once during this period. In addition to cutting off all the dead flowers, unsuitable branches, such as those that are diseased, insect-infested, dry, or those that affect the overall ornamental value, should also be pruned appropriately. Pruning is not only helpful for fall growth, but also for subsequent wintering.

5. Prevent diseases and pests

There may be diseases such as root rot or other pests, which should be prevented by irrigating the roots with carbendazim every month, especially in early autumn.
