Pinus tabulaeformis prefers a cool, dry and sunny environment. It grows at an altitude of 100-2600 meters. It is produced in southern Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Qinghai and Sichuan. There are artificial forests in Liaoning, Shandong, Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi and other provinces.

Pinus tabulaeformis is a positive tree species that prefers an environment with plenty of sunlight. Therefore, sufficient light conditions must be provided during its growth period. It is resistant to barrenness and wind, and is suitable for growing on acidic, neutral or calcareous loess with deep soil and good drainage.

Planting time and method of Pinus tabulaeformis

1. Pinus tabulaeformis can be planted in spring and autumn, but the best time is in spring. Select plants that are more than 20 years old as mother trees for seed collection. Select those that are strong, have good trunk shape, strong resistance, and are free of diseases and pests.

2. The land for raising Pinus tabulaeformis seedlings should be loose and fertile, with good drainage, convenient irrigation, and deep soil. Sandy loam or loam is preferred. It should not be planted in saline-alkali land.

3. Pinus tabulaeformis can be sown in rows in spring, with a row spacing of 15 to 20 cm and covered with soil about 1 cm. The germinated seeds will germinate and emerge from the soil one week after sowing. For greenhouse seedling cultivation, sowing should be done one month in advance to maintain air circulation and prevent damping-off disease of seedlings.
