Lily Introduction

Lily cultivation method

Lilies prefer a cool, dry, sunny environment. They are relatively cold-resistant but afraid of waterlogging. They are not very demanding on soil, but they grow better in sandy loam that is deep, fertile, loose, and well-drained. Heavy clay soil is not suitable for cultivation. They like light but cannot tolerate strong sunlight exposure and need shade in summer.

Watering method

Lilies prefer a slightly dry environment and cannot tolerate waterlogging. Ditches should be cleared and drained frequently. The potting soil should not be too moist. It should be drained in time during the rainy season. More water can be given in summer, and watering should be controlled in winter. In general, just keep the soil slightly moist.

Fertilization method

When lily seedlings have not yet emerged from the soil in January, you can apply human manure and urine to the soil to promote root growth and strengthen the roots. In early April, when the plant height is 10-20 cm, apply seedling-strengthening fertilizer heavily. You can use human and animal manure water, fermented and decomposed cake fertilizer, and compound it. Before flowering, apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and spray 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate on the leaves.

Lilies cannot tolerate waterlogging environments, so watering is required in moderation. Water less and spray more often. In addition, the plants are not cold-resistant, so they need to be kept warm during the low temperatures in winter. Before winter, apply appropriate amounts of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to improve disease resistance and cold tolerance. If diseases and insect pests occur, spray carbendazim, triethyl aluminum phosphate or metalaxyl, and mancozeb in a timely manner.
