Diseases of Elaeagnus pubescens and their control

The common diseases of the hairy oak are leaf spot.

Leaf spot is caused by infection by ascomycetes and is more likely to occur in hot and humid weather. Therefore, in daily maintenance, it is necessary to strengthen the management of water and fertilizer, pay attention to the balance of various growth elements, and not only apply nitrogen fertilizer but also lack other elements. In addition, pruning should be strengthened to keep the tree crown ventilated and light-permeable.

If leaf spot disease occurs on the hairy oak, you can spray medicine for treatment. Use 1000 times diluted 75% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder for spraying once every 7 days. Spraying 3-4 times in a row can effectively control the disease.

Pests of Elaeagnus pubescens and their control

The main pests that harm the hairy tamarisk are beetles, mole crickets, etc.

If there are beetles on the hairy oak, you can use lights to lure and kill the adult insects, or spray the plants with 3000 times diluted 3% hypertonic fenoxycarb emulsifiable concentrate during the adult stage of the beetles to kill them.

If there are mole crickets on the hairy elm, you can use dichlorvos poison bait to lure and kill the pests. You can fry wheat bran, soybean cake, cottonseed cake or corn kernels, and then add 90% crystalline dichlorvos to make poison bait. Sprinkle the prepared poison bait on the soil of the plants in the evening, or mix it into the soil during sowing, transplanting and planting. Be careful not to store poison bait for long periods of time.
