The planting of small gourds is usually not seasonal, and they are generally sown in March and April in spring. However, the specific planting time still depends on the local climate. The gourd seed coat is thick, so it must be germinated before sowing.

There are many varieties of small gourds in my country. The most common ones are six varieties, namely, waist gourd, long tube gourd, special-shaped gourd, gourd, long-handled hammer gourd, flower-skin ornamental gourd, etc. There is not much difference in the planting time between different varieties.

Gourd harvest season

The small gourd plant is mostly harvested in July and August. It is a climbing herb. The flowering period of the plant is from June to July. The gourd will mature about a month after the flowering period. The small gourd in the northern region will mature around September.

Steps and methods of planting small gourd

1. Choose the environment

The small gourd has a strong adaptability to its own environment, but it is also afraid of cold. The best planting location is a sunny area, and the soil used should preferably be rich in humus.

2. Land preparation and fertilization

Before sowing, the soil should be deeply plowed, and some organic fertilizer and compound fertilizer should be applied per acre of land, and then it can be raked and leveled.

3. Sowing

After the land is prepared, sow the seeds. The depth of the seeds should not exceed 1 cm. Pay attention to moisturizing in the later stage, so that the seeds can germinate in about 7 days.
