Glass Jade Introduction

Glass Jade is a plant of the Impatiens family. Its flowers, leaves and stems are translucent, resembling glass, hence the name. It is mostly propagated by cuttings, which can be carried out all year round.

It is best to carry out cuttings in spring and autumn. Choose strong young branches as cuttings, water them sufficiently after cuttings, and provide a temperature of 20℃ to 25℃. They will take root in 20 to 30 days.

How to grow glass jade

Glass Jade likes a warm and humid environment. The suitable growth temperature is between 18-25 degrees. The temperature overwintering cannot be lower than 10 degrees. If the temperature is above 13 degrees, it can bloom continuously.

The soil in the glass emerald pot should be kept moist, watered frequently in summer and less frequently in winter. In addition to appropriate watering during the growing period, the air humidity should be maintained at a high level. You can spray on the leaves and sprinkle water around the pot to maintain the humidity of the environment.

Watering method

Glass Jade likes a humid environment. The temperature is high and the air is dry in summer, so you can water it in the morning and evening, and spray it with water appropriately to keep it moist. In winter, the plant grows slowly and its demand for water decreases, so you should control watering at this time.

Fertilization method

During the vigorous growth period of glass jade, you can apply decomposed cake fertilizer water once a week. Before the flowering period, you can add phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Fertilize once every 16-20 days after flowering. Be careful not to fertilize frequently, which can easily cause the stems and leaves to grow too long and lead to lodging.

Pruning methods

During the seedling stage of Glass Jade, the tops can be pinched several times to promote the growth of side branches and the number of flowers. The branches that grow too high or too long should be pruned short to avoid unnecessary nutrient loss. In daily maintenance, weak and dense branches should be cut off. After flowering, heavy pruning can be performed to promote flowering next year.

Glass Jade Cultivation Precautions

The rhizome of glass jade is fleshy and cannot tolerate waterlogging. It cannot be watered too much. If the roots are soaked in water for a long time, the leaves will turn yellow and fall off. Generally, it is enough to keep the soil slightly moist.
