1. Time

Hydrangea has relatively high temperature requirements for cuttings, and there are two opportunities for cuttings in a year. The first time is at the turn of spring and summer. The temperature at this time is neither high nor low, and the weather has basically stabilized. It will not suddenly rise or fall, which is suitable for plant cuttings. The second time was in autumn, when the temperature was relatively cool and the young branches and leaves were growing stronger, making it more suitable for cuttings. Cuttings cannot be taken at other times. The unstable temperature in spring and the too cold temperature in winter are not conducive to the survival of the plants after cuttings.

2. Cutting method

When doing cuttings in spring and summer, you need to choose branches with young leaves, leaving only one node on the branch. The leaves should also be cut in half to help store water. Then insert the trimmed branches into the culture soil and water them normally. If you are doing cuttings in autumn, you need to choose strong branches. The pruning method is the same as above. After cutting, just insert them into the culture soil for cultivation.

3. Notes

In spring and summer, you need to water the plants when taking cuttings. Because the weather is very dry, you should pay attention to replenishing the plants with water. If the plants are grafted in autumn, you must pay attention to controlling the temperature because the weather is getting cold and you cannot let the plants get frozen, otherwise it will be difficult for them to survive. Another point to note is the supply of nutrients, which should be based on the specific conditions of the plant. The supply should not be too much or too little, but should be determined according to the situation.
