1. Use soil

The wild cherry bonsai has a well-developed root system and consumes a lot of oxygen, so the potting soil must be highly permeable. The nutrient soil can be prepared with leaf mold, manure, and coarse river sand in a ratio of 5:3:2. Such soil is both fertile and breathable.

2. Pruning

Summer is a more suitable season for pruning wild cherry bonsai. You can cut off unreasonable branches and some flower buds that do not grow well to make the tree shape more beautiful. In winter, you can prune to maintain the tree shape and balance the branches, mainly removing some competing, too vigorous, and particularly thin branches. When the branches reach the top, you can adjust and flatten the branches.

3. Repotting

Repotting wild cherry bonsai is usually done in early spring. Before repotting, be sure to prune the roots and branches of the wild cherry and remove branches with diseases and insect pests.

4. Watering

Potted wild cherry has a high demand for water in summer, so it is recommended to water it once a day. You can also spray water to cool down and increase the air humidity. In spring and autumn, normal watering management is sufficient, but watering should be controlled in winter, and watering should be stopped if the temperature is too low.
