1. Seabuckthorn in Gyangze

Gyantse seabuckthorn is mainly distributed in Lhasa, Gyantse and Yadong in Tibet, my country, and grows on riverbed gravel at an altitude of 3500-3800 meters. This variety grows between 5 and 8 meters in height, with slender branches that are gray or brown in color. Its leaves are alternate, narrowly lanceolate in shape, 30-55 mm long and 3-5 mm wide. The edges of the leaves are slightly curled, the surface is green with white, and there are also white soft hairs. The fruit is oval, 3-4 mm in diameter, and yellow in color.

2. Mongolian Seabuckthorn

Mongolian sea buckthorn is produced in Xinjiang and is mainly distributed at altitudes of 1,800-2,100 meters. It is also found in western Mongolia and the Lake Baikal region. As a deciduous shrub, it is between 2 and 6 meters in height, with relatively long lateral spines that are usually unbranched. The leaves are 40-60 mm long, 5-8 mm wide, and have a blunt tip. Its fruit is round and its seeds are oval.

3. Chinese Seabuckthorn

Chinese sea buckthorn can be found in Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai and other places in my country, especially in the Loess Plateau. It is about 1-5 meters tall, with many thorns. The young branches are brown-green with white scales and soft hairs on the surface. The leaves are opposite and 3-8 cm long. The fruit is spherical, orange-yellow or orange-red in color, and the seeds are very small, black and shiny.

4. Central Asian Seabuckthorn

Central Asian sea buckthorn is produced in Xinjiang, my country, and is also distributed in many countries in Central Asia. The height of this plant is 6 meters, and some can grow up to 15 meters, but it is very rare. Its leaves are alternate, linear in shape, 15-45 mm long, and silvery white on both sides. Its fruit is oval, 5-7 mm long, with very crisp flesh, and usually matures in August-September.

5. Yunnan Seabuckthorn

Yunnan sea buckthorn is very similar to Chinese sea buckthorn, except that its leaves are alternate, green on the surface, gray-brown on the back, and have rusty scales. Its fruit is spherical, 5-7 mm in diameter. It usually blooms in April and bears fruit in August-September. This variety is produced in Sichuan, Kangding and Yunnan, and is distributed at altitudes of 2,200-3,700 meters.
