Growth environment conditions and characteristics of Podocarpus

Podocarpus growth environment conditions and requirements

Podocarpus is widely distributed in my country. The plant prefers a warm, humid and sunny growing environment. The plant has weak cold resistance and strong shade tolerance, and has strict requirements for the climate.

Podocarpus growth temperature

The most suitable growth temperature for Podocarpus is 15-28℃. The plant has very poor cold resistance, and the lowest cold resistance temperature is 10℃. When the temperature is below 10℃, the plant will be frozen.

Podocarpus growth humidity

When Podocarpus is growing, the air humidity should reach 60%, which is the optimal state, but water should not be accumulated in the potting soil. In hot and dry seasons, it is recommended to spray the plant in the morning and evening.

Podocarpus growing soil

Podocarpus prefers fertile, moist, loose sandy soil and has a strong adaptability to the soil. However, if you want Podocarpus to grow vigorously, you can use leaf mold, river sand and slag for daily maintenance.

Growth cycle and process of Podocarpus

Podocarpus will start to grow in April and will sprout 3-5 times a year. It will go through several stages including germination, flowering and fruiting, and withering. The plant will grow leaves before flowers. The flowering period is from April to May, and the seeds mature in August to September.
