Durian growth environment conditions and characteristics

Durian growth environment conditions and requirements

Durian is widely grown in some Southeast Asian countries, with the largest number in Thailand. Durian cultivation has also been developed in Guangdong, Hainan, Yunnan and other places in my country. Durian generally grows in tropical areas with high temperatures all year round. It will stop growing when the temperature is lower than the growth temperature, so it is commonly found in the south.

Durian growth temperature

The lotus tree is a tropical tree that is suitable for growing in a high temperature environment. The suitable temperature for growth is around 25~30℃, and the best daily average temperature in the planting area is above 22℃. It cannot tolerate the cold, and will stop growing or even freeze to death when the temperature drops below 10℃.

Durian growth humidity

Durian prefers hot and humid conditions, with a humidity of 75-80% being best, and will not grow when the average daily temperature drops below 22°C.

Durian growing soil

Durian prefers deep, well-drained fertile soil with a depth of no less than 1.5 meters and a soil pH of about 5.0-6.5, and grows well on gently sloping land and foothills.

Durian growth cycle and process

The durian matures in June and July. The growth cycle of durian varies according to the variety. Durian trees can grow for 50 to 60 years. Unlike other tropical fruits, which have a short growth period, durian trees only start to bear fruit after 15 years. They bear fruit once or twice a year, and mature when the fruit is 3 months old.
