When to plant cherries

Cherry Origin and Planting Month

Cherries are native to the United States. Currently, their production areas in my country include Gansu, Shandong, Shaanxi, Shandong, Liaoning, Sichuan, Henan, Hubei and other provinces.

Shandong Cherries

Cherries in Shandong are planted in February and March and usually take 4-7 years to bear fruit. The cherries here are generally light red and relatively small in size.

Henan Cherries

Henan cherries can be planted in spring and autumn. The main producing areas are Zhengzhou and Luoyang. The fruit is relatively small and cute in appearance, and the fruit matures in May and June.

Cherry varieties and planting months

There are four varieties of cherries: Mei Zao, Black Pearl, Big Red Lantern and Labins. Their main difference lies in their appearance.

Meizao Cherry

The ripening period of Mei Zao is from April to June. Its skin is bright and colorful, and its flesh is purple-red. It tastes sour, sweet and juicy and has a strong flavor.

Big Red Cherry
