How to grow cactus quickly

How to grow cactus quickly

Cactus growing conditions

Cactus is drought-resistant and can be watered in time during the growing season, but the soil must be kept dry during the dormant period. It is suitable to be planted in fertile, well-drained and breathable sandy loam containing lime. It should be shaded in summer and the temperature in winter should be above 0 degrees.

How to grow cactus

The soil for cactus should have good drainage, preferably rich in lime. Watering should be timely to keep the soil moist. Water or spray water indoors frequently. Liquid fertilizer can be applied every 10-15 days during the growth period, and fertilization should be stopped during the dormant period.

Watering the cactus

The cactus has different water requirements in different seasons. It is recommended to water it once a week in spring and autumn. The temperature is higher in summer and the demand for water is greater. It is recommended to water it 2 to 3 times a week. The temperature is lower in winter and the plant's demand for water decreases. Water it once every half a month.

Fertilizing Cactus

During the summer growing season of cactus, you can apply thin fertilizer once every 10 days. In spring and autumn, it is generally enough every 15 days. Fertilization should be stopped until early October. Remember to apply thin fertilizer frequently.

Cactus pest control

If anthracnose occurs on cactus, spray methyl thiophanate, thiophanate-methyl or Bordeaux mixture once in the early stage of the disease or before the onset of the disease. If root-knot nematodes appear, soak the diseased plants in warm water at 50-55 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes to kill the nematodes. You can also spray with carbendazim wettable powder.

How to grow cactus at home

Cactus likes sandy loam with good drainage. Potted maintenance can be made with a mixture of leaf mold, peat soil, grass ash soil or fine sand. It likes an environment with plenty of sunlight. If there is not enough light, you can use lights to supplement the light. Take shade measures in summer. Watering should be appropriate at normal times. No water accumulation should occur. The water temperature should be close to room temperature. Fermented organic liquid fertilizer can be applied once every half a month during the growth period.

Cactus maintenance precautions

Cactus is easily prone to diseases and pests in an environment of high temperature, high humidity and poor ventilation. If diseases occur, you can spray carbendazim or thiophanate-methyl, and insect pests can be sprayed with dimethoate. No matter what kind of liquid is sprayed, it is best to do it outdoors.
