Make your own hydroponic nutrient solution with rice water, and it can be used for green ivy, spider plant, Clivia... and other common flowers!

1. Homemade method

To make your own nutrient solution with rice water, you need to first prepare the rice water and a mineral water bottle. Pour the rice water into a bottle, cover it with a lid and place it in a sunny place. During the fermentation period, you need to loosen the bottle cap, otherwise the mineral water bottle will easily burst due to the gas in the bottle.

When the rice water changes from white to yellow or yellow-black, and the white sediment disappears after shaking, it means that the fermentation is complete. You can also unscrew it and use it if you smell a sour odor.

2. Usage

Fermented rice water is very effective for watering flowers. It should be diluted with water when watering flowers, and it is best to use it in small amounts multiple times. It can be used on many flowers, such as green ivy, spider plant, and Clivia. When watering the flowers, pour it into the potting soil and avoid pouring it on the leaves of the plant.

3. Notes

Because many people grow flowers indoors, using it to water them may create an unpleasant odor in the house. If you want to eliminate unpleasant smells, you can chop up the orange peel and put it in the bottle. It will effectively relieve the odor.
