How to propagate bottle orchid

Seed propagation

Since the seeds of the bottle orchid are relatively small, you can use a magical tool - a toothpick. Moisten one end of the toothpick, and then stick the seeds one by one onto the surface of the substrate. Cover it with about 1 cm of substrate. For some larger seeds, you can put them directly in the substrate. When on-demand, space them at a distance of 3*5 cm. Also cover the substrate after sowing. About 2 to 3 centimeters. After sowing, be sure to pay attention to moisturizing, you can use spraying method.

Seed selection: Another big task for breeding bottle orchids is to select good seeds. It is best to choose seeds with full grains and no defects, and also prevent them from being eroded by pests and diseases. It would be even better if it was seeds from that year. After selecting, don't forget to disinfect and germinate the seeds.

Cutting propagation

In late spring and early autumn, you can also use the young branches of the bottle orchid for cuttings. Here it is best to use new branches grown that year. The substrate for cuttings can be nutrient soil, or a mixture of peat soil and river sand. Do not use river sand from saline-alkali areas because the salt content is too high and will hinder the growth of plants.

When choosing branches for cuttings, you should also choose plants that are growing well and have relatively sturdy branches. After cutting the branches, you need to cut them into sections. Each segment should preferably have 3 leaf nodes and should not exceed 15 cm in length.
