How to propagate jasmine

How to propagate jasmine

1. Cutting method

1. Time: Autumn cuttings can be done in July or August, usually not beyond the beginning of summer heat; spring cuttings can be done in March or around Qingming Festival; winter cuttings can also be done indoors, but the survival rate is relatively low.

2. Cuttings: Cut the selected branches to about 10 cm. The lower cut should be 0.2-0.3 cm close to the node to facilitate its regeneration. The upper cut should be 0.5 cm away from the node to prevent water loss. The best inclination of the cut is 40-45 degrees.

3. Loam: It likes loose, fertile and well-drained loam.

4. Cutting: Insert the trimmed branches into the loam at an angle and water them. They will take root in about 20 days. The newly planted jasmine needs to be placed in a cool place and gradually exposed to light.

2. Layering method

1. Time: The time for layering propagation can be chosen in May or June.

2. Cuttings: Choose healthy branches that are one to two years old from the mother plant and cut them with a sharp blade.

3. Loam: It likes loose, fertile and well-drained loam.

4. Layering: After cutting from the mother plant, quickly plant it in another pot. It will take about 40 days to take root and will gradually be exposed to light after 10 days.
